OSA Releases Three New Organic Seed Production Publications

OSA’s education program staff – Micaela Colley, John Navazio, and Jared Zyskowski – along with assistance from an array of seed professionals have released another round of organic seed production publications – this time in lettuce, radish, and beets (also good info here for chard seed producers). These are very detailed manuals, with information on disease issues, crop timing and management, harvest, cleaning and all the technical information growers need to produce a high quality organic seed crop – for on-farm use or commercial production. We are grateful for support from Organic Farming Research Foundation to develop and publish these manuals.

Organic Seed Alliance publication page contains free downloads of these crop specific guides, along with other guides for seed producers and producers interested in conducting on-farm variety trials.

While we do receive grants for projects like this, we cannot function without individual donations, and appreciate any level of giving that fits your personal situation. You are the foundation for development of our projects and programs (grant proposal writing, answering your emails and questions, blogging – none of this is grant supported). Please considering supporting the work of Organic Seed Alliance so that we can continue to provide organic farmers with information, workshops, field days, and other educational materials – help us build an alternative seed system – one that is organic, regionally centered, farmer-oriented, and ethical.  - thank you!!
