Mother Earth News’ green living fair heads to Washington state
Fresh off a successful inaugural event, the publication adds dates for 2011
Mother Earth News, the largest and longest-running publication about sustainable lifestyles, will host a Mother Earth News Fair June 4-5, 2011, at the Puyallup Fairgrounds outside of Seattle.
“Washington is a great place for the Mother Earth News Fair,” says Bryan Welch, publisher and editorial director of Mother Earth News. “Washington residents are among our most loyal readers and the community has a long history of commitment to the Mother Earth News lifestyle.”
Dozens of hands-on workshops will cover renewable energy, small-scale livestock, green building and remodeling, organic gardening, DIY projects, real food, natural health, green transportation and related topics. Mother Earth News staff will lead the sessions, as well as editors from sister publications Grit, Natural Home, The Herb Companion and Utne Reader, and other leaders in green and rural living.
In addition to workshops, the Fair will host a green shopping pavilion, vendor and livestock demonstrations, a seed swap, children’s activities, musical acts, and local and organic food options. The keynote speaker will be Joel Salatin. His presentation will truly be a can’t-miss event.
Tickets are $15 for a one-day pass and $25 for a weekend pass. Children 17 and under are free! Weekend packages that include a Mother Earth News archive DVD for $40 also are available.
At the inaugural Fair last September, more than 100 volunteers played an integral role in the Fair’s success. Volunteers receive free admission to the Fair, as well as a goody bag. All individuals 10 and older are welcome. To volunteer, contact Kristi Koehler at Kristi@sevenstarevents.com.

The magazine also plans to host fairs in San Rafael, Calif., on Sept. 3-5, 2011, and at Seven Springs, Pa., on Sept. 24-25, 2011.
